Energy Drink Review : BodyArmor “Edge”

All the BodyArmor without the “Edge”

Body Armor “edge” comes in Orange, Berry, Tropical, & Fruit Punch

Welcome to the new age. The age where everyone has a caffeinated drink to give you the fuel to go about your day. Body Armour jumped into the game with their coconut water formula fueled by caffeine. Orange, berry, tropical, and fruit punch (pictured below) pack 100mg of caffeine and electrolytes to to fuel your athletic lifestyle. Although some of these leave a lot to be desired when talking about taste, a majority of them taste good enough to be refreshing on a hot summers day. What stands out the most is the calories. In a zero calorie, sugar free energy drink world, I’m surprised they did not launch a sugar free version at launch. For those of you counting your macros , I don’t know that I would recommend spending 180 worth of your calorie dollars on Body Armor “Edge”.

Orange Frenzy

I will start off by telling you my favorite flavor of the bunch, orange. It’s the most refreshing tasting of the flavors and has the least after-taste. If I hoped for anything , I wish they would have added a little more orange so that it resembles Monster Zero Ultra Orange flavor. It’s a bit more disappointing because with the high sugar content in these, I would have hoped it would have a little more flavor. As you’ll find out below, this probably wont be your favorite, but I enjoyed this one the most.

Berry Blitz

Berry Blitz was the middle ground flavor of all four flavors. It wasn’t bad, but if your a blueberry lover this might be the one for you. This also has a weird aftertaste , but if you enjoy standard Body Armor drinks you might be able to push through it.

The Power Punch was my least favorite flavor of the four. It’s had the strongest aftertaste that tasted of cough syrup. Fruit punch is normally my go to for any drink besides for an orange flavor. This one just isn’t worth the 180 calorie count, the taste will make you regret not going to get a plain bottle of water.

Tropical chaos is probably the most refreshing ( when freezing cold) of the flavors. Orange is my favorite, but I could see the majority of the public flocking to this flavor because of how refreshing it was. *pro tip* I would freeze this one so its almost slushy like, the sugars would be more pronounced and it would be very refreshing on a warm spring day.

Verdict

Overall, if your into coconut water , you might want to give this a shot, but if your looking for the next best energy drink, look elsewhere. There are so many tasty low-calorie or no-calorie sugar free alternatives that makes Body Armour “Edge” obsolete before it even gets started. For now I will stick to the Zero Ultra Monsters as my pick me up and caffeine fix.
